On September 28th, 2009, the Newport Beach Public Library hosted TEDxEureka (where x=”independently organized TED event”). This event brought together fellows of the 2008/09 Eureka Leadership Institute and their guests for an afternoon of thought-provoking TEDtalks and discussion.
The Eureka Leadership Institute gathered emerging leaders in California public libraries for an intensive professional development experience, and the TEDx model gave us a great way to continue our conversations, challenge assumptions and share ideas after the official end of the Institute. Several attendees are now looking into hosting TEDx events for their local communities.
At TEDxEureka we discussed ideas relating to leadership, motivation and communication. Three TEDtalks were featured:
- Seth Godin on the tribes we lead
- Clay Shirky: How social media can make history
- Dan Pink on the suprising science of motivation
We hope the conversations will continue!
